Delay Draft

Delay Draft Claim Letters vs Other Airline Claim Companies: What's the Price Difference?

If your flight was delayed or cancelled, you can pay a claim company to handle it, or send a Delay Draft claim letter to the airline yourself. Both are legitimate. Here's how the cost compares.

How claim companies usually charge

Claim companies typically work on a "no win, no fee" basis and keep a percentage of any payout, often a third or more, sometimes with an extra fee if legal action is needed. In return they deal with the airline for you. Always read a company's current price list before signing up.

How DelayDraft charges

With Delay Draft claim letters, you pay a flat $9.99 (1–2 travelers; $24.99 for 3–6) for a clear, dated claim letter citing the rules that may apply (EU261, UK261, Canada APPR, US DOT and others). You send it yourself and keep whatever the airline pays. We don't contact the airline, negotiate or go to court, and we don't guarantee any outcome.

Side by side

  • Who contacts the airline: a claim company does · with DelayDraft, you do.
  • Cost: a percentage of any payout, often a third or more · $9.99 flat.
  • Example on a €600 EU261 award: at a one-third fee, about €200 goes to the company · with DelayDraft you pay $9.99 and the airline pays you directly.
  • Legal action: some companies offer it · DelayDraft doesn't; you can escalate to a national authority or ADR body yourself.
  • Effort: hands-off · about 5 minutes plus following up by email.

Which suits you?

  • Use a Delay Draft claim letter if the airline has a claims form and the cause looks clear (e.g. a technical fault or crew shortage).
  • A claim company may suit you if the airline has already refused, you expect court action, or you'd rather not deal with it.

You can always claim directly from the airline under EU261, UK261 or the APPR; an intermediary is never required.
